Chief Medical Officer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO/PRESIDENT), the EVP/Chief Medical Officer (CMO) plans directs and monitors the delivery of medical services for the health care center. Directs all Staff Providers, all Ancillary Staff, and Professional Contractual Providers in a manner that ensures high quality primary care accessible and acceptable to the community that the health care center serves. The EVP/Chief Medical Officer assists the CEO/PRESIDENT to implement strategies that will fulfill the established mission, vision, goals, and objectives, and strategies of the organization.  Recruits all medical doctors and mid-level providers. Provides leadership to all providers and clinical staff to assure maximum achievement of desired objectives and strategies. Assists the CEO/PRESIDENT to ensure the short and long-range financial and operational viability of the organization. In absence of CEO/President may be temporarily assigned to act in that role. 

Education & Experience

  • MD and DO Degree with Board-Certification in a primary care specialty including Internal Medicine, Family/General Medicine/Practice, General Pediatrics or Obstetrics/Gynecology.
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration or Business administration from an accredited university of recognized standing preferred.
  • Successful Completion of residency program accredited by ACGME or AOA in a medical specialty related to services provided by facility or diplomat of one of the certifying boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialists or AOA.
  • Five-ten years of experience in multi-practice site, community-based primary care setting with three-five years in clinical operations or delivery systems.
